Once settled in Paris, I think my father (Gerhard) and my brother (Alex) went
to the Orient Express exhibit at the Arab World Institute. I may have gone to
the Catacombs, found a long line as expected, and then walked to the Eiffel
Tower (about three miles). Somewhere in there, I visited chocolatiers
Pierre Hermé and
Patrick Roger.
However, backing up a bit, I was not happy with Charles de Gaulle Airport and
will avoid it in the future. It seemed to have a poor layout with long walks
between gates, border control, baggage, trains, and whatnot. We also left
through home through Charles de Gaulle, and that experience confirmed my
impression.
Paris had gained tram lines since my last visit, and those were a pleasant way
to travel in the city.
We got back together for dinner, and the grocer’s cart in the last picture was
nearby. The ruts worn in the pavement suggest how long it has been there.
