We visited the salt mine in Hallstatt, the world’s oldest salt mine. In 1734,
they discovered the body of a miner who had died a millennium earlier. They were
mining that place for a long long time. (This is not far from Salzburg—salt
mountain.)
Visiting the mine starts with a trip up the mountain on a funicular.
Later we road cable cars up Dachstein mountain to view the Alps from the top.
There are also some ice caves to explore, but they were not yet open for the
season.
