A van driver met me and another traveler at the airport and delivered us to the
hotel. After meeting our Trip Experience Leader (TEL) and checking into the
hotel, I set out on my usual initial travel activities—getting a Hard Rock Cafe
shot glass for Cathleen and visiting two chocolate stores.
The Dark
Side of Chocolate uses olive oil and no butter or cream. It was good, some
of the best I had on the trip, but I would not go out of my way for it.
Part of Athens has a series of alternating one-way streets, and my walking route
was perpendicular to them, crossing them. At the intersections, there is a
crosswalk only on the source side (the side traffic is coming from). So
pedestrians walking that route must repeatedly cross the street they are walking
along to cross the other streets. Crossing three of the alternating streets
actually requires nine street crossings.
