Busy day, although not many photos. Breakfast at the fancy Higher Ground, a walking tour, Melbourne Museum, dinner at a nice café in a laneway, and Mörk Chocolate.

Melbourne Museum was good, diverse exhibits on Melbourne history, aboriginal culture and history, natural history (including quite a bit more in geologic periods than just dinosaurs), and more.

Melbourne traffic signals seem ill-timed for pedestrians.

The second picture below shows a traffic oddity: a hook turn. Australian traffic drives on the left. A driver coming toward the camera and wanting to make a right turn pulls to the left their traffic stream and waits in that right-turn box. When the traffic signal turns green for the cross street, then they complete the right turn and go.

It was not at every intersection in Melbourne, and it may have something to do with the trams, but it looks inefficient to me. Since vehicles have to wait, only a small number of them can turn each traffic cycle. You cannot have a continuous stream during a green light.
